That's why they're called FREE throws

Last night boys 8th grade game. Home team went 27 for 27 from the FT line. And I mean they made, not missed, all their free throws. After about the first 10, it became a issue in which they teased their teammates when they were going to the line by saying things like, "Don't miss or you'll have to play on the girls team" or "If you miss, Dude, we won't call you Dude anymore".

Ironically, the final free throw hit the bracket, bounced way up into the air, then fell down through. Their team went wild.

Oh yeah, they won the game by 20 points.

Wow!

In my experience, it's certainly unusual to see a team shoot well from the line! Especially that well.

I had a "highly ranked" (locally) GV team last night who were the most disciplined, best free-throw shooting and three-point shooting team I've seen all year.

Nice be on a floor during a game where "good hoops" is being played.

That's when officiating is the best job anywhere!

Should Be Switched Around ...

In my experience, girls high school varsity players are more adept at shooting free throws than boys high school varsity players. Maybe it's the smaller ball?

27/27? That is amazing. I had a 15U team go 29/31 two years ago. We missed our first and last. During the game I knew we were shooting well, but didn't realize how off the charts until after the game.

Had a kid on my 16U team last spring go 16/16. He was 14/14 in the 4th quarter.
