First quarter, no fouls
Worked 3-person boys varsity tonight. I called the first foul of the game with 6:30 left in the second quarter. It was a rebounding foul and a player pulled another player to the ground.
One of my partners told me at halftime it was a nickel-dimer and I should've passed. Then he laughed. Floodgates opened after that, I think we called 5 more in the quarter. |
Floodgates?

Just think, if you hadn't called that first nickel-dimer there may not have been any fouls at all! Bad Rich, Bad! :p |

And I had a game with 57 fouls and 68 free throws the other night. :(

The home team only shot 6 the entire game (3-for-6). The visiting team ended up 4-for-9. The entire game took about 65 minutes. There was a 50 point blowout boys game last night with a total of 17 fouls. I'm there on Thursday. The game will probably not be that close. |

I think my record was a freshman boys game several years ago - we had 63 fouls and could easily have called twice that....... |
I had an NAIA game that involved 60 fouls the other night. 38 of them were in the 2nd half. Ugly.
Edit: Just looked at the box score. We shot 75 free throws. |
We had 58 in a juco men's game in November. I had 50 in a varsity girls game on Friday (after having only 22 the night before).
In my 8 years in Wisconsin, the most I remember was 62 in a girls varsity 2OT game about 7 years ago. Ugly stuff, especially when the one team was down to 4 players. You can only work the game in front of you. |

I may have mentioned this before, but last Friday night I had a boys HS JV rec game with no fouls in the first half! In the second half, we had four on one team and only one on the other team. That's right - a HS REC game with only five fouls. I thought I was in an alternative universe.
