I like this quote:
"I just know coaching," he said. "I don't know the rulebook nearly as well as those guys. I've coached more than 600 games and I honestly say that no referee or a call has ever cost me a game."

Good article!

This part has me puzzled. Ref says, ""If (a coach) has badgered me the whole game, in a moment out of the spotlight, I'll try to tap him on the arm or leg or tell him that's enough." Tap the coach on the leg??? How could that ever, ever be appropriate??

Any one on the forum work games for Coach Liptrap or Coach Caslin???

Do they walk their talk?

I thought the same thing, and frankly, I've never worked with a coach tall enough that it wouldn't be physically awkward as well. I won't even tap them on the arm, but some refs can get away with that.

I have worked games for many of the coaches in the article. I have coached against two of them as well. For the most part, they have been rather honest. I know the officials quoted (along with the Silas who is in the color picture listening to Ed Calo -- who is always one of the best dressed coaches in the area) as well.

Just read the comments. "Former Ref" sure seems full of himself for someone who has matured into understanding it's not all about him.
