New forum?

After reviewing what's been on this board lately, I thought maybe we should suggest to Brad that he add a forum for table personnel. I can only imagine who the first poster would be.

Here's my best guess as to a post on that forum:

"What's with these referees? Every time I try to correct them about a call, they get upset with me. What - do they think they know the rules better than me? If I wasn't a rules expert, I wouldn't have been asked to run the clock. Geez. If they keep it up, I'll have to T them up. I know the rules allow me to do that."

Very interesting thinking, Mark.

As I stated before I don't question the officials about calls made unless I'm a fan, but I don't do the verbal abuse that coaches or other fans do. I'll question it to myself, however after viewing discussions on here I am thinking more like an official concerning calls & POV on the floor compared to from the stands or scorers table.

All table personnel can do is report what they saw/heard to the AD & let the AD make the final decision.

Thanks Mark. I was going to go to a baseball rules meeting tonight, but now, thanks to your post, I feel compelled to stay right here and monitor the reactions and responses to your suggestion as they come in throughout the evening.
This is gonna be fun.

"I'm gonna tell the AD those referees did that."

Let me guess, your full time job is hall-monitor.

Dude GIGDGO or in other words STHU and work on stopping the clock correctly so I don't have to do it for you

Hmmm. Perhaps a selling point for officials to chip in and buy the Precision system.

I have no problems stopping the clock correctly.

What's a full time job in this economy?

I've mentioned this in other postings, that due to disabilities am unable to work

Only in severe situations would I report anything to the AD. I rather let bygones be bygones.

I think we need to have a forums that separate NCAA & FED. This way, no one is confused about the rules or discussion. JMHO.

If you look at the picture on the bar code you will see a US and Canada price displayed. It didn't mean anything.

That has very little to do with the prices on the book.

How many times do I have to say that the officials have final say? If I observe something like a sub with bobbies pins in hair or multiple coaches in coaches box, I just mention it to the officials. The officials have final say in what is going to be done concerning if a penalty is assessed.

Rookiedude,

Are you just scheduled for the Boys' V?

If the "multiple coaches standing" are a problem with your being able to see the action, say you're having trouble seeing the action.

Don't tell me multiple coaches are standing just because it's against the rules.

In fact, don't tell me anything just because it's against the rules.

If you see something unsafe (like bobby pins), some would find that helpful. I'd still find it outside your responsibility, but whatever.

And officials don't have the final say. They have the only say.

Perhaps we can initiate a petition to the Athletic Director at 509-xxx-2911 and request he appoint our favorite poster to work the table at the Varsity game this Friday night. I am sure it will make rookiedude's day to have at least one reliable member on the table crew to consult with regarding rules issues and shot clock problems.

I like the person that does Varsity Scoreboard/Timing, although she was running off of older regulations, that has since changed, she does a great job.

If I was asked to do it, I'd request someone else do it especially with the game that's scheduled.

chs....

Please refer to NFHS Rules Book Section 12. Articles 1-7. There is nothing that states your job is to help with bobbie pin, coaches box issues or anything else you seem to think is part of your duties as shot clock operator.

Actually the rule book doesn't even reference shot clock operators and their duties....kinda like an assistant coach....persona non grata....so I am stretching your contributions to the game by including you with the timer's responsibilities.

When I've mentioned concerns to the officials, I've been scoreboard/timer, not shot clock.

The reason why the NFHS doesn't have rules/regulations about shot clock is cause of the fact that the NFHS doesn't support the shot clock as of yet.

As I have stated before, I do not make comments of concern to the officials during every game. I'd rather let bygones be bygones.
