Batting 1.000

After several false starts my youngest son, 15 1/2, has finally decided to don the stripes. He joins his 2 older brothers and proud papa as a legit member of the basketball officiating community. Has a 5 game set this Sat w/ his old man.

Hope he does half as well as his siblings but he is on a longer learning curve as he was never a serious baller.

Still working on the wife!!!!!!!

Hope all you dads can enjoy the extreme pleasure and satisfaction of working with your sons on the court.

Won't be too long that I'll have to change my signature line...

That's great. Sounds like you'll have a blast on Saturday.
Had the same experience with my son (on the diamond not the court)...someone happened to take a great photo of of us going through ground rules with the managers...it's one of my prized possessions.
Congrats on going 3 for 3.

Congrats justacoach! I hope you son has a great first outing and a long successful career wearing the stripes!

I've been reffing soccer with my boy since he was 10 ( 14 now). He is now considered one of the "up and comers" within the state.

I know what you mean about the photo, KJ. We had one taken of my son running the center with me as one of his AR's. The photographer caught both of us calling an offside ( my boy with his hand up and whistling, me with the flag up.) Very cool! We have it framed in the den.

He's ready to try basketball, but is probably going to wait until after high school.

Congrats, JAC! I, too, have two sons who are soccer referees. We do many games together. My older son is also a basketball official. We have worked together several times. It is a great family activity. Where else can you go as a family and get yelled at by complete strangers. :)

Hoorah Rick!

Hope he's as good as his brothers!

I look forward to reffing with him someday too! :p

I have a 13 yr old who is somewhat reserved. I've had him at games and in the locker room many times, but he hasn't shown an inkling for it yet. He'll start doing our youth baseball games this year on the bases. Once that paycheck rolls in it may motivate him a little more.

Are you hoping for a 4th son or for a daughter??

Sorry, it's been that kind of day that I need to make a sarcastic comment...

Make sure you fill him in on the first rule of officiating.

Just Ignore Him, He'll Eventually Go Away ...

Please. Nobody ask. Just walk away. Carefully walk away. Do not look back. I repeat. Do not look back.
