Clean Up College Hoops
 

Here is an article concerning fouls in college basketball. I like the fact that John Adams is talking about consistency. I hope he puts his money where his mouth is in March.

I'm sure that officials have already chosen how much of Adams to listen to and how much to ignore. The big dogs who have been passed over the last few years will continue to work their 120 or so games and go work the NIT and not care all that much, I'm sure.

I'd prefer to see Adams come out and say that giving deserved unsporting technicals would be supported and that he would support the official in some way once those conferences take games away from those officials.

Adams needs to strive to get all of the conferences to let him hire/select their officiating supervisors. If the supervisor of each conference must answer to Adams with his job on the line, then Adams will have real power and the ability to put his message into effect on the court.

Right now the writer of the article and Adams correctly note that he has only one small carrot with which to coax officials. It simply isn't enough and the independent set up of the multiple conferences is the reason that college basketball officiating lacks any consistency from coast to coast.
