NCAA Shot Clock - Mens' vs. Womens'

Does anyone know why the shot clock is 35 seconds for men, but 30 seconds for women?

Because women don't require as much time as men to get things accomplished?

I think it has something to do with there not being any 10 second count in the backcourt. Give the girls some incentive to get the ball in front court quickly.
