Does anyone know why the shot clock is 35 seconds for men, but 30 seconds for women?

Because women don't require as much time as men to get things accomplished?

I think it has something to do with there not being any 10 second count in the backcourt. Give the girls some incentive to get the ball in front court quickly.

So things don't get too simple for those of us who do some of both types of games.
