Just as an FYI, here in South Carolina V plays 8 minute quarters, everything sub-V plays 6.
When I was in Kansas, all high school games were 8 minute quarters, Jr. High 6. I had a few freshman games that were reduced to 6 minute quarters. |
From what I have seen so far here:
Almost everything in high school is 8 minute quarters. Jr High varies from 6 to 8 minute quarters though most of my games have been 8 minute quarters. I had three boys 7th grade games a few weeks ago that took 4.5 hours to complete. |
Arrived at my varsity game on Tuesday and apparently the visitors' bus was late in arriving. The JV officials told them they were lucky to not forfeit and that they would be playing 5 minute quarters so the second game would start on time. [Final score was 40-9 or something like that].
One county here has JVs playing 7 minute qtrs. Did a DH last week with the V from this county and the H from another county. When they asked about the 8 minute quarters, the response was, "You're in OUR house now." I have rarely seen anything other than 8 minute quarters for JV & Freshman games, though. In several states. |
