WOW! What a Night

Second highschool game of the season, first boys game. Team had a new coach. The things that happened on this night probably will not happen again this season.
1: Teams have opposite color jerseys on home has blue, away has white.
2: Visiting Team won game by 35 (keep that in mind)
3: 80 plus fouls were called
4: 63 Free-Throws attempted.
5: 15 plus Offensive Fouls were called
6: 4 Technicals were called
7: One player was ejected
8: Same player was then tossed from the gym (later in game)
9: Home team came out late to start second half (didn't give T, could have)
10: Player gets knocked out, he tried to take a charge, fell when contact was about to happen. Instead of player continuing into him the player passed the ball to another player who jumped and shot a layup and when he landed his foot landed right on the defensive players head who was in the process of getting up.
11: Home team finished the game with 4 players. (first time on a varsity that this has happened for me)
12: After game we waited 10 minutes to have lockerroom unlocked

WOW! But I was very happy how the crew officiated. We had three playoff/college caliber officials on it and needed it.

Varsity boys last Friday...defender in the lane sets up to take a charge...shooter redirects and misses him by a good three feet...defender flops, with, of course, the accompanying "Aighhhhhhh!". Technical foul for faking. Was a very dangerous place to end up lying after faking taking a charge. Crew felt the T was certainly justified. Didn't happen again the rest of the game.

What a game you had! Great having good partners, eh?! Did you get paid by the game, by the hour, or by the number of fouls called?

That's Eventful!

Let me know when your next game is......mine seem a little ordinary compared to this! ;)

. . . that means, on the average, a foul every 24 seconds!
In addition to the bonus and double bonus free throws, and given there musta been the occasional violation every now and then, how long did this game take?

Let's just say that it began in 2003.

Apparently, his state is using a 24 second foul clock.

Can you please go further into detail on why the player was tossed from the gym?

Was there an adult accompanying the player once he was tossed out of the gym?

Is this an actually sanctioned HS game or some rec league?

I'll bet $100 that if there really were only 63 FTA, that there were fewer than 80 fouls called.

Really quiet possible. many of the 80 fouls called could have been on-the-floor or team/player-controlled fouls, and once in 1-and-1 the shooter could have missed the first free-throw. But, I would be willing the FTA was miscalculated somehow. I'll see if I can use my mathematical mind as to how you can have 80 fouls and only 63 FTA. Then I'll get back to this topic

Player was probably ejected for either a flagrant foul or two intentional/technical fouls. Then probably yelling at the officials or whatnot during the rest of the game, he could have been ejected from the gym.

If this was a high school game, I believe NFHS does mandate that an adult must accompany then player in the locker room, on the bus, or he leave the gym and school-grounds with a parent/guardian.

FB first game. Partner and I pregame. Let's let the boys play, establish a flow, get into the rhythm, etc.

Tap is won by V, breakaway. V1 misses layup and gets the rebound. Wwrapped up by H1. Me - TWEET! Foul H1. SEVEN SECONDS INTO THE GAME! V inbounds the ball under their basket, H applies pressure. P is Lead. TWEET! Travel on V2. AT THIRTEEN SECONDS! Noooooo!

Thankfully, the game settled down after that. We weren't even in the on-and-one the first half. Looked like it was going to be one of those nights. Thankfully, it wasn't!
