Coach David Adelman gets sentenced to jail for DUII

Here's the link to the story. There's also a video. You can compare his statements about what he did to Tim Donaghy's.

He looks like the slimy guard from "The Green Mile".

As if one of Rick's kids doing this wasn't bad enough

David's sister, Kathy, was sentenced yesterday for her DUI conviction. Oh yeah - did I mention she's also a HS coach? The most puzzling aspect of what's happened to this family is that here in Oregon, you don't need to use alcohol this way when you can get your family doctor to prescribe pot.

Not that it's really relevant, but doctor's cannot "prescribe" pot, doing so would jeapordize their medical license as it's not a recognized medicine at the federal level. They can, in certain states like OR, "recommend" it. OTOH, I'm relatively certain OR has laws in place against driving under the influence of pot.

Correction: In OR, the doctor apparently confirms the presence of a qualifying "debilitating condition."

Hey - the guy down on my corner always asks to see my prescription. :p

BTW - my suburb has two stores that sell bongs and only one that sells hard liquor. The bong stores do more business, too.

There's a biker bar here in CO that found compliance would be easier if they set up a marijuana "smoke bar" rather than a traditional bar.

Oregon justice

One judge said he doesn't believe alcoholism is a disease ("it's a choice") while the other delivered a colloquy on how alcoholism is a disease.
