Held Ball--Double Foul

Had this situation in my game tonight

I'm the L, and am in position at the end line. T is watching ball being brought up, with some man-to-man full court pressure. B1 goes for the steal, tips the ball, they both go for it, and eventually T calls a held ball. Arrow is pointing in Team B's direction.

After the whistle, the players jostle around a bit, so my partner calls a double foul. Here's where I'm unsure of whether or not we got it right.

First, 4-19-5 c says that any intentional or flagrant contact during a dead ball situation should be a technical foul. So in this case we should have had double "T's", right?

Secondly, I know that with double fouls and technical fouls, we use POI to resume play. Does the arrow change anything?

My partner, the R, gave the ball to A, which was opposite the arrow.

What do you think?

You were right that the foul had to be flagrant or intentional if it were to be called.

If that were the case, it would be a double technical, no free throws, resume at POI. POI was the AP throw-in.

Ya, the arrow was my first instinct. I should have stepped in.

Live and learn.

Why in the world would he have gone opposite the arrow? I don't get the thought process there. I can understand if a guy incorrectly goes to the arrow, but this makes no sense.

As I thought about it more after the game, you're exactly right.

My question is this: Why was the Trail watching the ball??? Shouldn't we ref the defense?? :)

sounds like your partner kicked it on a few fronts-

1. Ignore dead ball contact unless intentional or flagrant
2. double fouls are resumed by POI- in this case the AP was POI
3. how the hell did team A get the ball back?
