undershirts...

So before a game Friday night, a player comes up to me and asks if what he is wearing is ok. He had a long-sleeve, skin tight under armor compression shirt under his uniform.

I know the rulebook says nothing about length of sleeves (long sleeve vs short sleeve), only that each sleeve is the same length. However, I considered the skin-tightness long sleeve to be a "compression sleeve" and told him since it was a "compression sleeve", it could only be worn for medical reasons.

Kid said ok, and obliged with no problems by not wearing it. No problem from him or coach about it.

Just wondering if I got this right or not. Any thoughts? Book says nothing about length of sleeves of undershirt, just that they have to be the same length for each arm and not ragged, etc.

It's a shirt, not a sleeve. Nothing in the rules prohibit the length of the sleeves (as you noted) nor the fit of the shirt.

I'd have no problem with a kid wearing a compression undershirt in my game.

It should also be the same color as the torso of the jersey

Agree. This is an undershirt, not a sleeve. The rules restrict the color but not the length of sleeves on undershirts.

Yeah, color and all was fine. I was just a dumb@$$, over-thinking stuff in the first game of the season when I should have just used common sens!! :(

Thanks everyone :)

Was it one solid color? Was any manufacture logo visible?
If two colors or logo visible, then the undershirt is not legal.

So then the player grabs a scissors from the first aid kit, cuts off the sleeves, wears only the sleeves, calls them compression sleeves, says they're for medical reasons, and legally wears them. I don't believe that there are any color, or logo, restrictions for compression sleeves worn for medical reasons, nor do I believe that a doctor's note is required.
