Big Ten/ACC challenge
6-5 in favor of the Big Ten this year.
So Rut should be posting shortly to let Tony hear about it. |
Some exciting games this year.
There was one incident I saw and read about in the IL/Clemson game, and just wondered if anyone else saw it too - in the first half, it appeared as though a T was called on Illinois' coach Weber. Of course, he looked around, said things like, "What did I do?" etc., and I didn't think any more about it. This morning I was reading more about the game, and apparently the T was given to the bench because a clipboard was either dropped or thrown to the ground. I say "either dropped or thrown", because it sounded like one of the assistants claimed it was dropped. I had never seen a T given for clumsiness before, so I would assume the official thought it was thrown. Did anyone listen to the game? I just wonder what the official explanation was? |
I saw the play last night and the truth is somewhere in the middle. In my opinion, he absolutely did NOT accidentally throw it or drop it. However, he also didn't seem to do it out of anger. He kept asking "What did I do?"

when has a coach EVER admitted he "threw" a clipboard? Duh! :D
|
So, did Weber have the clipboard, or was it one of the assistants? In the box score it listed the T on the bench.
I'm also not necessarily implying it wasn't thrown, but the impression I got around here was that it was not a result of an official's call, but rather a bad play by an IL player. So is it possible the official assumed it resulted from a call/no call? Did he actually see it thrown, or only hear it? |
I thought Weber threw it. From what I saw, he was using the clipboard during the timeout. After the timeout, he tossed it on the floor because he was done with it. It didn't seem like he was upset or anything, but we can only see/hear so much on TV.
