I usually just whistle at the female coaches - and some of the moms.

As someone who just recently moved into the V ranks, I was told that blowing the whistle was "redundant" and to let the table sound the horn.

My reply to that was always, "The reason I did it, and still do sometimes, is at below V level, the table is usually not that good and doesn't sound the horn, therefore the whistle is needed."

Took some getting used to.

I like what some of the others have said too.

Bottom line, as was said, "When in Rome...."

Not everyone uses the same manual. And all things in the manual are not to be used blindly.

Peace

Yep. The manual should be our bible. Unless local adaptations are mandated. Or the "crew chief" says we're going to do it differently on that game.

We make it a race with the scorer/timer. If I get to my whistle first he better not have a horn. If he gets to the horn first, I am sleeping on the job and get substitution seconds. helps me keep in mind the table/subs at each stopage in play. Here they want a whistle on all subs.

I, for one, do not think the subs should have whistles.
