Basketball hits glass

When is it goaltending at each level?

In high school, does it matter if hits the glass or only on downward flight? In the NBA is it anytime after the ball hits glass? What about college?

HS: Only on downward flight.

College: After it hits the glass, if the ball is above ring level.

NBA: IDK&IDC

NFHS: The backboard has nothing to do with goaltending. Goaltending when a player touches the ball during a field-goal try, or tap, while it is in its downward flight ,entirely above the basket ring level and has the possibility of entering the basket. On most layups, the ball is going up after it contacts the backboard. It is legal to pin the ball against the backboard if it still on the way up and not in the imaginary cylinder above the basket.

NBA: Rule 11 Section I

A player shall not:

d. During a field goal attempt, touch a ball, which has a chance to score, after it has touched the backboard below the ring level and while the ball is on its upward flight.

e. Trap the ball against the face of the backboard after it has been released (to be a trapped ball, three elements must exist simultaneously. The hand, the ball and the backboard must all occur at the same time. A batted ball against the backboard is not a trapped ball.)
