Rule 7-5-4-b.....Designated OOB nearest the foul

Quote:
7-5-4 ART. 4 . . . Designated out-of-bounds spot throw-in nearest the foul:
a. After a player-control foul, as in 4-19-6; a team-control foul, as in 4-19-7; or after a common foul prior to the bonus rule being in effect, as in 4-19-2, any player of the offended team shall make the throw-in.

b. After an intentional foul, as in 4-19-3, or a flagrant personal foul, as in 4-19-4, any player from the team to whom the free throws have been awarded shall make the throw-in.
Does anyone know why this doesn't say "intentional personal foul"? Is it just a mistake or is there a reason that I am missing?

Not a mistake. Any player may make the throw-in after any kind of intentional foul, so there's no reason to narrow the scope.

Don't lose track that the prelude leading up to the b portion of this article is, "Designated out-of-bounds spot throw-in nearest the foul". After an intentional foul during a dead ball, which would be a technical foul, the ball would be inbounded, not at the closest spot, but at the division line opposite the table.

cford may have a good point here, maybe it should say intentional personal foul, not just intentional foul? Not a bad catch for a guy with only 150 posts.

In the 2006-2007 book, the similar section does say "intentional personal or flagrant personal" foul.

When it was rewritten in 2007-08, it must have been dropped -- and it sure seems like an oversight.

Good catch by cford, and a good followup by bob jenkins. Excellent teamwork. You guys would make a good tag team. Too bad that Captain Lou Albano just passed away, or I'm sure that he would want to manage both of you.

Maybe he's just too busy hitting the books to post?

Or better yet, let the term intentional refer only to personal fouls, when it makes a difference. A technical foul is a technical foul, and carries its own penalty, whether it was intentional or not.
