free throw

I have a question for you. The player is at the foul line for 2 shots. On the first shot the ball hits the rim, the ball bounces up* and then enters the basket. After the ball hits the rim and bounces up the shooter steps inside the key. Does the basket count? Is the shooter allowed to step inside after the ball hits the rim like on the second try. (rule#)

Can you find anything in the rules (it would be in the same section) that says the restrictions end at different times based on whether or not another free throw is to follow?
