Simultaneous Violation
Prior to A1's release of the ball, B1, in a marked space, fakes and causes A2 to violate, is it a simultaneous violation?
|
No, it is a delayed violation until you see what happens. If the free throw is successful, you ignore the violation and count the goal. If the free throw is unsuccessful, you recognize the first violation only (B1 fake) and A1 gets a substitute free throw.
There are further provisions if A1 violates becuse of disconcertion or if he violates without being disconcerted. See Rule 9 Section 1 Penalities |
Quote:
9-2 Penalty 4 If a fake by an opponent causes the free thrower or a teammate of thefree thrower to violate, only the fake is penalized. |
