Post wing move

Would like an officials take on this move demonstrated by Nancy Lieberman.

Scroll to the ~6:15 mark in the video to see the demonstration.

In slow-mo demonstration mode it doesn't look too bad. But in game speed, could this move be called a foul on the offensive player?

I guess it could, but would this be likely to be called? No. Should it be called? No, unless you are trying to be ultra technical. Basketball has contact and when players are moving around in a short space they are going to contact with arms and legs from time to time. This does not pass the test based on what I saw at this time.

I do not see the point in calling a foul when a defender is using their arm to restrict the movement of the cutter and we have an offensive player that is trying to move to another spot.

Peace

That has to be the dumbest title for a basketball video I've ever heard.

"Scoring without the ball"

Did nobody who produced the video stop to realize that it is impossible to score without the basketball?

I see this as more of a problem/potential foul on the defender. The arm is extended outside the normal width of the frame. If the offensive player fights thorough successfully, I'd likely leave it alone. If the defender "fights off" the offensive player's move to advance through, isn't that a hold?

Thanks Jeff. That was my thinking.

I also can see the offensive players left arm move being perceived as a "hold" if done the wrong way.

Yeah, but I think "Scoring with the Basketball" was already taken. :D
