dribbling, def hits, travel?
sure this has been discussed before just can't find the right thread.
I had this last night when the defender hit the ball back into me and I think I sort of palmed the ball or briefly had it against my body and took a couple of steps. I was dribbling when the ball was hit. I sort of palmed the ball after it was hit but I don't think I had control of it. Or taking the palm part out after the defender hits the ball do I need control of the ball to be called for a travel? After taking a few steps and regaining control can I dribble again? 2nd random type question. Say like the first and somehow the ball goes into A1 shirt. B1 is the d player. Does play stop right then? Can you travel if the ball goes accidentally into a jersey and gets stuck. Sure there would be a limit on this as a player just wouldn't be able to run down the court:rolleyes: 3. If someone does this on purpose is it a Tech or just a violation? |
1: Travel if you were holding the ball (resting in your palm would count as holding it) and exceeded the limits of the pivot foot.
2: Keep the jerseys tucked and this doesn't happen. If it happens on accident, consider it player control of the ball and rule accordingly. 3: If it's done on purpose, it's a T. This ain't the Globe Trotters. |

ok thanks, on 1.. From the opposing teams point of view it really would look like there was control because I think I did momentarily palm it. But I don't think I had control of it. would be a tough call either way.
If there was no control though would I be able to dribble after. |
