tattoos

Are there any Division 1 officials with tattoos on their arms that are exposed? Would having a tattoo on your arm keep you from officiating higher-level basketball?

I have a buddy who is in multiple major D1 conferences and I have seen pictures of him in uniform with an exposed tattoo on his bicep.

My guess is it depends on a couple things.
1. How big is it?
2. What is it?
3. What your particular supervisor thinks.
4. Whether I can count to "a couple."

Lets just say it won't help you get into any D1 Conferences!

Unless the tat says:

  • Rule 2.3 (In the style of John 3.16)

  • My Savior: Joey Crawford

(Although the fans would just point out that we ARE blind!)

The following tattoos will probably not help your chances:
  • Referees do it 'Fox'y Style
  • Cheerleaders Love Me
  • Coaches are Devils

If I were a coach I sure wouldn't yell at this guy!

....so it might help your chances because a supervisor might not mind having a guy like this on his staff :D

Look 5'4" to me.

I have a tattoo of Ed Hightower on the back of my neck. Will that hold up my career?

I have Celtic half sleeves and was told I will never be allowed to advance to CIS or College ball. Thats ok because I am having way to much fun with the high school games I get. 50 - 60 games a season is plenty for an old guy like me.

Show And Tell ???

I have a cross on my left upper arm with words "John 3:16". I also have a Celtic, or Irish, cross on my right upper arm. Both can't be seen with regular short sleeves. My next one will be on my lower arm, so I have to be careful choosing it, because it will be seen. I'm thinking about an Amercian flag, or some other patriotic symbol.

We have member of our local board who actually has an IAABO emblem tattooed on his upper arm. Now that's loyalty.

All this talk about tattoos got me tempted to get one on my back that says: "F**K OFF COACH!" The only problem is lifting my stripes and undershirt and tucking it all back in neatly when I have to use it. :D

Bite Me ...

I've got a pair of white socks that look something like this:

For some games I'm tempted to wear them under my black socks, and when necessary, pull down the black sock, exposing the white sock, and then lift my pant leg to the coach.

Is that like a medic alert thing to let medical personnel know he's blind?
