Amazing stat

I just saw in Ripley's "Believe It Or Not" that Marques Haynes of the Harlem Globetrotters played "professional basketball" for 46 years! Yeah, I know it was the Globetrotters, but so what? That's still an amazing feat.

Mark T. DeNucci, Sr. got real water thrown at him, not confetti, when he officiated the first game that Mr. Haynes played in. It's true. You could look it up.

probably an amazing feat not being recognized here is look at what he was wearing on his feet. 46 years of bb wearing no cushion or support!

A gentleman.

Not that many years ago [early 90's?], Marques Haynes showed U.P. at Michigan Tech with, I think, the Harlem Wizards.
After the game, the Wizards came out to sign autographs, but Marques stayed off the court.
I walked around the stands and knocked on his door. He told me to come in and I was able to shake his hand and to thank that gracious man for doing what he did.
I was thankful for that moment.

Good story Mick.

I met Curly Neal and Meadowlark Lemon when I was about 13 or 14 when they came through our local area with the Globetrotters. Nice as could be with HUGE smiles! These guys appeared to love the game .......in spite of the grind.
