Think there was any pre-game dunking?

had One Last Night.....

B13U AAU.

About 30 seconds into the game, B1 is taking the ball down court for the first time. TWEEEET!!!!! My partner (L) blows his whistle and I mean there is really no action going on. Me (T) ->

I go to his end of the court and there is white powder all over the floor....and the floor is mighty slippery!! This is the second game of the night and this powder certainly wasn't there the first game!

It turns out its talcum powder. And now we discover it on another part of the floor!!! COACH, bring a towel!

Me - who's got powder on?!

All players give the deer in the headlights look.

One kid says, "Ref, I think it's me." You think? You don't know if you're leaking powder all over the floor? C'mon!

Took us a few minutes to clean the floor.......and hose the kid down! Sheesh!

Actually had that at a local HS BV game this year. Home fans wanted to imitate LeBron and tossed white powder which caused a huge cloud and left remnants all over one-half of the court. Even after sweeping there was still residue on that end for the first half until a halftime re-cleaning took care of the problem. Visitors complained it hampered their offense in the first half because they couldn't cut quickly to the basket and they got down by a good margin. Second half comeback wasn't enough to completely overcome the deficit. Lots of talk about protesting the game but I don't believe anything came of it.

This talc was apparently (ahem) inside the young man's uniform to prevent chafing and as he walked about a bit he got it all over the place! It was very slick until wiped up, but surprisingly we had no incidents or complaints.

Sounds like this kid watched the old episodes of MASH. Check those out...references to using talc to prevent chafing during the Korean summers, or at least Colonel Potter would. :D

Call Animal Control!

B15U AAU game today. Mid-way through the 2nd half as the game is going on, I am T and notice ALL of the parents/spectators are getting out of the bleachers and walking down the side of the court (thankfully there was allot of room) to the far end of the gym. Me - It was one of the weirdest thing that ever happened to me - like everyone was leaving in the middle of the ongoing game! All I saw the custodian with the electronic, bleacher retraction device.

At the next TO I go to the table and said how odd that looked. They had no idea what was going on either.

At the end of the game I am approached by the custodian and I asked him, "What's up?"

He said, "Snakes."

Me -

Yep, someone reported seeing one and then another snake under the bleachers. So, they moved everyone to the other side of the gym.

As I departed the parking lot for home, animal control was pulling in. Justacoach will have to finish the story if he reads this as he was staying for other games....

It was bizarre.....

Were they sure they weren't coaches? It's easy to confuse the two. :p

Snake wrangler was unsuccessful in apprehending his quarry so the balance of the proceedings were cancelled. Set to resume today at same facility if any teams so desire....

We'll see

So if they reached the floor, would you be able to make a movie called "Snakes in the Lane?"

*EDIT* Ninja'd.

This happened in a HS girls game three years ago. My partners and I were walking from the dressing room to the floor and while we were in the hallway, there were some players from each team arguing, also in the hallway. One of them slapped a girl from the other team and then pushed her and knocked her down. A coach ran in and broke it up. He then wanted to know what we "were going to do about it?" He wanted to have the aggressive girl tossed and to start the game by shooting technicals.

One of my partners told him that, by rule, our authority did not begin until we reached the floor, so there was nothing we could do.

He was pi**ed and his attitude carried out into the game. He eventually got two Ts and was tossed. Gee - that was fun.

Here in Oklahoma we have both the HS varsity games (girls, boys) on the same night; girls first, followed by boys. It was homecoming night. Near the buzzer of the girls game a rebounder came down and hit her teammate, just over the eye, with an elbow. Blood everywhere! The homecoming ceremony was at halftime of the boys game. My partner and I came out to start the second half. The homecoming queen was having her picture taken in formal gown and her head bandaged crudely. Seems she didn't want to go to the hospital and miss the HC celebration.

I was working a game and when they opened up the doors
to the gym to cool it off a bat flew in. We had to delay about 15 min
until we could get it out of the gym.
