Exclamation

Last night I worked with a partner who told me the following story.

Two weeks ago, he was working a girls 7th grade game in a HS gym. The doors at the ends of the gym were left open to get some fresh air. During play, a dog ran in the gym. He said it was a black lab. The dog ran straight at the girl who was dribbling, jumped on her and knocked her down, then went after the ball. He grabbed it between his paws and starting gnawing on it. The two refs and the coaches started chasing the dog to try to either catch it, or herd it out. The dog ran away from them, then all of a sudden stopped right in the center circle and took a dump! He then ran out.

My partner said he told the coaches that three things had to happen:

1. they needed a sub for the girl who was knocked down (I guess she was hurt or upset)
2. they needed a new ball
3. they needed someone to clean up the mess

When all three were done, they could continue the game.

After he told me the story, I noticed two doors were open at the end of our gym. It was too hot to close them, but I kept watching them the rest of our game.

Although it wasn't a game I have heard of a deer running into a YMCA gym here in Omaha while some kids were shooting around. They ended up having to shoot the deer with a stun gun to get it out of the gym.

Watching a high school game one time. At halftime, each school's cheerleading squad did a routine - home team, followed by visiting team. After the visiting squad finished two boys from the home school jumped out of the stands and onto the floor. One boy got on his hands and knees. The second pretended to "milk" him, a not so pleasant reference to the size of some of the visiting team's cheerleaders.

I thought they were going to have to clear the gym.

That story has more holes in it than 5 pounds of Swiss cheese.
