2009 Final Four Officials
Who will get the call for this weekend? Will the ones that called last weekend be the ones that will be called to work this weekend?

I do know of one official. I cannot speak for the others.

I have asked not to be considered for officiating the Final Four, since baseball season has started.
|
Might not mean anything anymore with Adams in charge now, but the last two years (2008, 2007) 5 of the 9 worked the Sweet Sixteen Round. In 2006 4 worked the Sweet 16.

Tim Higgins and Jim Burr worked the NIT Semis last night in NYC.

As did 3 officials from the Sweet 16. |
Based on performance so far, I think Tony Greene and Jamie Luckie are in.
Possibly Dick Cartmell, Mark Whitehead, Doug Shows, John Cahill, John Hughes. |
Dave Hall, Randy McCall & Verne Harris next Monday night.
|
Officials who have stood out to me are Jamie Luckie and Les Jones.
Tony Greene is about as steady as you can get so I wouldn't be surprised to see him there again. |

Jamie Luckie is one of the best officials working. Once his name catches up with his ability he will be a final four regular. Les Jones is also solid and could get the call.
Rut, is it a secret or can you tell us? |

I can confirm that JRut knows the Monday night crew.....
2 of the 3 officials from the Pitt/Vill game are working the FF....1 on Mon and 1 on Sat. |
Driscoll for Saturday and McCall for Monday would be my bet.

It can only get those guys in trouble for someone to find out they let the word out. Jeff wasn't even supposed to know. |

My college friends from Montana thought that Ohio was east coast, so maybe East Lansing would count as well! |

If the West guys are getting plugs I'll plug a few East guys who I think should be working this weekend in Detroit.
John Cahill, Ed Corbett, and the aforementioned Jamie Luckie. |
Quote:
In this part of the country, some people think that from Chicago on east is all one big continuous city and anything east of the Twin Cities is "east" in a cultural and geographical sense. Of course, in NYC and other parts nearby, they think nothing west of the Hudson is important. |

And according to "real" midwesterners (from big flat states) Ohio is not in the midwest either. Go figure. |
Ed Corbett, John Hughes, and Mike Stephens are working the NIT Championship game tonight.
If the NCAA still has a regulation that Final Four officials cannot accept any assignments in the five days previous to their FF game, then these three are out. |

I would have bet money of Corbett. |

Shaw, Greene and O'Neil in the final. Mike Stewert is working a semi final
|

That would be Stuart. |
So 6 of the officials would be:
Curtis Shaw Tony Greene Tom O'Neill Pat Driscoll Mike Stuart Les Jones ???? Or is it still too early to ask that question? |
if Cahill did not work the NIT final (which he didn't) I'll make him my "lock of the day."
I think he's been the best official in the country for the last 3 years. |
Rumor has it that Pat Driscoll will be working.

I've gotta ask. Is the identity of these guys something y'all were that anxious to find out?
|
Tonight:
Curtis Shaw Tom O'Neill Tony Green/Vern Harris Just my guess. |
Alternate?
Anybody see who the alternate on Saturday was?

Do the officials that work on Sat have to leave after their games are finished?

Guess my answer wasn't good enough either. :p |
Officials Names
As long as I can remember CBS always used to show the officials names in the bottom left hand corner before the tip-off. I noticed this year that they didn't. I went out to sports bars a lot this year, and the volume would be turned down, so I could't hear the names all the time. That's one of the exciting things to do. Make sure you get in front of the tube before tip to see who's working the game. Congrats too all the officials who got a chance to work in March. No matter what level we officiate, we should all aspire to get our name called to work in March.
