Player within his cylinder/ illegal use of hands?

hi guys,

I hope you can help me.

If a defensive player has his cylinder 'invaded' by an overhead offensive player in the act of shooting and this defensive player just raise his arms within his cylinder but by doing this he causes contact arm on the arm with his opponent...

...Can the defensive player be penalized for raising his arms whithin his cylinder in this case?

Thanks a lot

Christian

"Can" he be? Sure.

Should he be? Not a chance.

Rather than "cylinder," use the word "verticality."

The use of cylinder refers to the basket ring and the imaginery cylinder above it.
