ACC championship

Watching ACC tourney championship game...

Two-handed reporting seems not only acceptable but prevalent.

Is Valentine on the crew? He's the only one I've seen use it regularly.

Too bad for you.

Anyway, NCAA-W has used two-handed reporting for the past several years.

BktBallRef Sun Mar 15, 2009 04:00pm

I haven't seen any two hand reporting in the ACC this year.

I watched the championship game today for most the first half and saw it from more than one official on more than one occasion. Not a big deal but just an observation. As I live in BigXII country I don't watch much ACC basketball so I can't comment on the regular season only this game.

According to an email I received a couple weeks ago, it's on John Adams' list of possible mechanics changes for the men next year as well.

I have seen a lot of NCAA-M officials reporting using 2-Hand machanics this season. Most also chop the clock in as the trail as the lead on front court throw ins.

I'm seeing more and more of the two-handed signals on foul reporting at the JUCO levels around here.

bradfordwilkins Mon Mar 16, 2009 10:17am

Dumb question...

What is two-handed reporting? Is it referring to when you are reporting the foul using both hands (i.e. 2 fingers on one handed and 3 on the other to indicate foul on 23?)

M&M Guy Mon Mar 16, 2009 10:26am

No, and yes. :)

No, it was not a dumb question, and yes, two-handed reporting is using both hands for each digit of the player's number.

I saw this as well in the ACC Mens Tourney.

I wouldn't be surprised if the NCAAM switch over to using two hands next season...I work NCAAW and I prefer using 2 hands to report fouls.
