This solves half of everything

It came to me in a dream. I still have some more rec games the next two weekends so I'm going to experiment. I've decided to call everything totally in favor of one team. Every time the other team makes any contact at all, I'll call a foul and I won't call any fouls on the first team regardless of contact. Every time the other team has possession, I'll call a violation and I will call no violations on the first team regardless of what they do. Why? That way, only half the coaches, players and spectators will complain! 50% peace and quiet is better than 0%.

What do you guys think? Good idea?

Yep.

Ranks right up there with screen doors for submarines and discussing politics and religion at a party.

Do all your games have a two drink minimum for the 'audience'?

If you do that the whole game, you will have called it the same at both ends. Good thinking.

ROFL, Paul. Great point!

Analogies in writing are like feathers on a snake.

Did a "junior varsity" Catholic middle school game (fifth and sixth graders) a few weeks ago. The game was a blowout by halftime. My partner and I decided to keep giving held ball alternating possessions to the same team until somebody complained. Nobody complained. The losing team got every single alternating possession in the second half, and there were a lot of them, as you would expect with ten and eleven year olds.

You're making an awful big assumption that the folks in the peanut gallery will be able to recognize what's going on.

There is an obvious flaw in the theory expressed here. Surely I'm not the only one warped enough to see it.

Going to need security/game management to walk you to your car after games.
