May be?

Strange happenings in one of yesterday's 8th grade boys rec games. Every once in a while, one of the coaches would say "may be a travel", or "may be a carry" or something like that. My guess is that he thought that since he was saying "may be" (and he was saying it like that - not like "maybe"), we wouldn't think he was criticizing our calls.

So, at halftime, I went over to him and said "Ya' know, Jennifer Lopez may be waiting for me in the parking lot, but that doesn't mean she actually is. Get my meaning?"

He looked at me for a few seconds, then nodded. Didn't hear a peep out of him the rest of the game.

Anyone ever hear a coach do that before? It was a first for me.

Nope, never. The intent is the same, though.

Finally, we now understand your aversion to overtime.

Just because it's normal for Padgett does not mean it's still not strange.
