Here's one that I never thought would happen.
Last night I was working a boys district tournament game. Between the third and fourth quarters the tournament manager gets on the PA system and says there is a tornado warning and announced an evacuation procedure in case it was needed. Luckily the game was 30 point blowout and in Missouri we have 30 point mercy rule in the 4th quarter. This is where it gets funny. The game I was working was about 8 blocks from my house. I look down to the doorway and see my fiancee of two days and her workout partner standing in the doorway. My fiancee comes down and tells me that she heard the sirens as she was finishing walking and got in her truck and came to check on me. Now she does this in front of about 30 or 40 fans who are sitting near the midline. Naturally they all found it quite amusing. I have to admit that it was funny. Anybody have anything similar? |

I was working a playoff game in baseball about 2 years ago and into the 5th inning of a close game it became cloudy and murky looking. A few minutes later the tornado sirens went off and we went to the school for cover. We decided to call the game and luckily for me my wife was not close enough to come running over. The following year we were at the same school during the regular season and a tornado siren went off as we arrived at the game site and the management cancelled the game. Needless to say, I am a little leary going back to that school anymore.
