OT – Let’s hear it for the coaches that get it!
Sometimes we write not so affectionately about coaches. Here is a good news story about a good guy.
Yesterday, my son’s school’s V Team won and made it to the regional finals and states. Why? Yeah, we’ve got some talent. But, good coaches can make a difference. While I don’t know all the details, our head coach moved from the west coach to the east coast a few yrs ago. Out west he went 609-150 and won 19 district titles, 8 region titles, 1 state and 1 national crown. Someone talked him out of retirement. He inherited a down team that had just been decimated by redistricting. In two seasons here he has gone 35-14. He’s low profile and calm. Yeah, he’ll question a call on occasion, but most of the time he just sits on the bench and watches. He rarely raises his voice or g_d forbid, yells in anger! He works the fundamentals and repetition in practice. He helps the boys, but takes no crap. You have academic or other issue, we’ll help, but you suffer the consequences of your own actions. He has suspended more than one player for improper conduct. It's not your right to play V ball, it's a privilege. And, best of all, he’s a nice guy and great role model for our young adults. Here’s to a good one! Thanks coach!

We need more like him!
We have a few coaches around here that "get it." Unfortunately, the majority of them have resort to typical bark-at-the-officials-for-better-calls antics.

That guy yelled in anger a few times.

Hand wash only.
Mark Padgett: Why did you crop Mark T. DeNucci, Sr. out of the photo?
