Mechanics for foul on successful 3-point try

The following came up in my last game and I wasn't 100% sure what the proper mechanics were, so I thought I'd pose it as a question here.

A1 is fouled by B1 during a 3-point attempt. The ball goes in. The basket counts and A1 will be shooting 1 FT, but what signals do we give when? Choose and order from the following list---both for how one should signal at the spot, and reporting to the table.

Three-point field goal attempt (three fingers)
Three-point field goal successful ("touchdown")
Stop clock for foul (fist)
Goal counts (motion of hand in downward direction)
Type of foul (push or "hack")

Lotto: Your OP looks exactly like the mechanics I would use, followed by 1 finger indicating the number the FT's we will be shooting.

Edited: After seeing Nevada's post and thinking about it, I would have to go fist when I blew the whistle. so here is my new one.

1. 3-point attempt
2. Fist
3. "Touchdown"
4. Bang It (it's redundant, but I like to bang it)
5. Type of foul
6. One finger for number of FT's

Here's what I do:

1. Three-point field goal attempt (three fingers)

2. Stop clock for foul (fist) USING OTHER ARM.

3. DROP FIST AND GIVE Three-point field goal successful ("touchdown")

4. Go to reporting area

5. Goal counts (motion of hand in downward direction)

6. Repeat Three-point field goal successful ("touchdown")

7. Report color and number of fouler

8. Type of foul (push or "hack")

9. State the number of FTs (obviously one)

Likely the foul will happen before the ball goes in the hoop...

Spot:
  1. Three-point field goal attempt (three fingers)
  2. Stop clock for foul (fist) and whistle
  3. Wait to see the result of the shot, and if need be:
    1. Give the count-the-basket signal
    2. Three-point field goal successful (touchdown)
  4. Type of foul (push or "hack")
  5. Signal the number of shots to be taken and ID the shooter
Table:
  1. If applicable:
    1. Give the count-the-basket signal
    2. Three-point field goal successful (touchdown)
  2. Verbaize Team
  3. Verbalize and signal number
  4. Type of foul (push or "hack")
  5. Signal the number of shots to be taken

Gah. I have this scenario down (I go attempt, fist, count it, touchdown, prelim signal, one finger for the FT) but I had a new one this weekend at Men's Wreck, and I screwed it up. Defender decides to shove through screener on baseline to try to get out on the guy shooting a three from the corner. I'm lead (two-man of course) so I have the attempt, the fist, then a point at the fouler followed by a push signal, and a point to the baseline. I missed both the touchdown and the count-it (punch the fist downward). While they are redundant, I needed one of them! So everyone was confused for a minute on who the foul was on and if the basket counted. I went to the table and reported it correctly before getting it straightened out at the spot, and by then my partner was lining them up for the free throw (assuming I called a foul committed against the airborne shooter I guess), and it was my fault he had to guess since my signals at the spot sucked.

What's the "count the basket" signal for a three point basket? It's the "touchdown" signal (both hands showing three fingers, for FIBA). I believe that other signals in this situations may confuse the scorer, the coaches and the audience. For the rest, I agree.

Of course, in FIBA we don't do any "preliminary": the type of foul is shown only to the table. The officiating manual says that only the number of free throws awarded may be shown at the spot of the foul, in controversial situations.

Ciao

Signal 28 @ http://www.4shotsports.com/artman/up...ball_rules.jpg

Raise the arm, and flip the wrist down. Then signal the touchdown to show it was a 3.

That's NF, of course. :) I still think it's useless (or worse).

Ciao

I'm almost with this. In the middle of #3, I'll give a "count it" (for lack of a better phrase) signal followed then by the TD.

The rest, I'm with.

It's happened once this season so far. Usually happens at least once a year. Biggest one of these was at the buzzer at the end of the quarter in a regional boys game about 4 years back.

Just like Nevada except for #2. I form fist with same hand I had 3-fingers up.
