Foul Reporting Mechanics Question
I know I'm being extra critical on myself, but that's what we're all on this forum for! This has been something that I've tried to work on for a while. I'm wondering what all of you do in this sitch:
I have a foul on A14. I go up to report the foul and this is what I say: "White. Four (as I hold up the 1) ... -teen (as I hold up the 4). (I make my push call) Two shots." My question is to all of you: Do you try and make the "Fourteen" sound together or do you separate it like I seem to always do? I think it sounds confusing if I would be sitting at the table and seeing the ref say "four" and hold up only one finger (the index finger, I'm not giving the table the bird, haha). Also, do some of you say, "Fourteen. One. Four" as you are reporting? I think this might be confusing to the table as well. |

I do not like the numbers with "teen" in them. I say each number separately and I have never had a problem with anyone understanding what I say with each number given separately.
Peace

I say fourteen, twelve, or thirty-five and signal the numbers with one hand. I don't make an effort to pause or artificially stress the two different syllables.
I know plenty of officials who say one-four, one-two, or three-five. I just don't care for it as I don't believe that three-five is a number. |
