Disagree. Stop signs, if used, should be used with caution. I don't care if everyone in the gym knows he's been warned, as long as he knows and my partners know.

Last night, home coach is upset we're calling some light fouls, and during a free throw (in the first half) starts going on and on to his kids about how they can't touch them because the refs are calling touch fouls. I'm lead, glance over and he's about 3 feet from the endline.

I turn, "Coach, please get back into your box." That was his warning, and he got it; coached his kids the rest of the game.

Maybe, maybe not. If he rolls right through your warning, yes. If the next incident is very minor, probably not. That's why I don't want to say, "Next one..." and box myself in.

That's true i suppose there is an amount of chatter we'll allow and a degree of chatter. I was more focused on the degree stuff, like cursing out the ref and not so much the amount of conversation, like how long a coach cries about a call... I'm less apt to warn in the former case than the ladder.

I will not warn for cursing out the ref; regardless of level. It's unacceptable. You warn for this, you're just going to get more of it.

If coach is just crying about a call, he'd better let it go next time down the court.
