Game last night...
I haven't quite figured this one out yet but the HS league in our area is divided up into Division 1 (good programs) and Division 3 (not so good programs). I don't know why it's not 1 & 2 but that's besides the point...
Anyways, I had a Div. 3 V/JV Boy's double header (which is S.O.P. here) last night. Here's some of the high-lites from the V game... - Step on the floor to observe the warm-ups and notice that both team benches are way too close to score table. So we had the GM more the benches to where they are supposed to be at the 28 foot mark. - Visitor's wearing blue and V14 is wearing a white undershirt... ask the coach to have him remove it and get the debate... "but it's legal... our colors are blue, white & red... etc..." I explain that the color of the undershirt must be the same predominant color of the playing jersey... no problems V14 removes the undershirt and plays. - 3 minutes into the 1Q, the home team is shooting the penalty. - 3Q, my partner calls a travel on V4, who then turns around and wants an explaination and bumps him. I actually expected him to 'T' V4 but it never came. On the same dead ball V4 is sub'd out and as he is leaving the court V4 says "That's Bulls!&t..." So I ended up rewarding the coach with a bench 'T'. Home team player goes 0 for 2 on the FT. - 4Q, V4 back in the game commits a foul on a home player's drive to the basket, I've got the call from trail, turn to report and here comes the coach making the travel signal from his "team bench area" (technically FIBA doesn't have a 'coaches box') to the score table. I tell the coach it was not a travel and to return to his bench but he decides to keep at it with the travel signal and this time he steps on the floor. So I 'T' him up... Home team player goes 0 for 4 on the FT. - Later in the 4Q, I am the trail in front of the visitors bench and I hear from the coach "Well... at least the 'T's didn't hurt me..." It was a very physical ball game, we got to the penalty in all 4 quarters for both teams. Home team ended up winning by 2. Visiting coach even said Thanks and we did a good job. JV game was not nearly as interesting or close... |

The idiot who suggested this probably played college hockey in the NCAA here in the states, where there is no Division II for that sport, just Division I and III. That's why my favorite team plays Division I even though they are technically a Division II school.

I hope that he didn't remove it within the visual confines of the playing court.

Huh? Of course they can go below the free-throw line extended. Read the description again. |
