Toe be or not toe be

6th grade girls rec game this morning. A girl checks in and is going to be the inbounder. She looks at the other team and says loudly, "I've got 13". I say to her, "You've got 13 what? Toes?" She looks down at her shoes, shakes her head and replies, "No, I don't think so".

Hopefully you won't officiate a game in Spain, where one of the players might have polydactyly, literally, many digits, in which people have extra fingers, or toes. In one town in Spain, there has been so much inbreeding that almost everyone has six, or seven, fingers on each hand.

WOW! Just think - you can count to 11 without having to take your shoes off!

Knew a kid who had many problems, least of them being polydactyly. Doctors clipped his sixth fingers as an infant but left his 6th toes on each foot so he could count to 22.

I had a cat once with 28 toes (instead of the usual 18). She had nearly two entire paws on each front leg.
