Is that like "misunderestimate"?

"we are are play by the Iowa high school rules and that he needs to stay in his seat while the ball is live"

I thought that pretty much explained it.

You should've pinned him twice, one for out of seat and one for electronic device.

My point isn't that you didn't warn him
I think you handled it right - Warn and Whack - the coach has no right to complain after that ... not that they won't
leave what ever happened in the first game in the first game once the next game started.

I see no reason to forget what happened previously. If you know a team has a tendency to steal the tip, for example, nothing wrong with thinking to look for it.

it isn't forgetting what happened - it is discussing what happened.
if you bring up anything from the previous game (especially if it is first game of double header) you open the door to other things, things you did or did not do in that game. I am all for remembering the things that happened in previous games - tendencies of teams - coaches - etc. It gives you a handle on the possibilities that lay ahead.

But other than letting my partners know the things I know - I am not going to discuss them with the coach or players. A T or a funky call could be misinterpreted - thought to be premeditated, etc.

that is all I am getting at.

Back in Wis, they don't let sub-varsity officials have a box. I just moved to the area and worked a lot of SV games at my local school so I got to know the coaches too well. Here's how it went, coach was standing, coaching his team. I motioned him to sit, which he did. Again, he's standing coaching his kids as they are bringing the ball up the floor. I blew my whistle and asked him if he wanted a full or thirty. He says, niether, was talking to Tom. I again say, full or thirty. He says, Roger, I was just talking to Tom. I said, coach, you're standing so you either want a TO or a T. What'll it be. He replies "Thirty". No more issues that game. Point is, you do that once and it gets the point across. So does a T, but sometimes there are other solutions.
