From the description, it says it only happens on the first field goal of every season. Don't know whether that's true or not but still ridiculous.

Could be worse. At least the TP is new.

You're a glass is half-full kind of guy, eh?

I wonder what the assigning officer thinks of this tradition. If one is thumbs down about it, probably nothing you can do about it, except dislike it.

It's a tradition. First FG of the year. I heard about it earlier this year. The officials know it's coming. Home knows they're going to get the technical foul that follows. Visitors know they're going to get two additional free throws. Staff is ready to quickly sweep the court.

Seems like good fun to me.

There was a high school in Nebraska that did it some years back. After a couple of years or so of doing it, the state association finally put a stop to it by saying that the officials would TELL the game administration to kick everyone throwing the toilet paper out of the gym, as well as assess a T for the disruption. The association also gave officials the power to forfeit the game if game administration took too long to get it cleaned up, and the offending parties out of the gym. The school's administration decided it was easier to end the tradition than to have to kick 2/3 or so of the fans out of the gym.

Agree. As long as no one gets hurt.
