My season begins tonight

Knee surgery on December 16th and I am doing my first game since then tonight. Varsity girls. State has given permission for pink headbands, wristbands etc. AD has a copy of the letter from the state to show us. Both teams are doing this for cancer awareness. They've asked us to use pink whistles.
I'm excited to be back. I don't think my knee is 100%, but good enough to go up and down the court in three man. Ibuprofin and ice right after could be the order for the remainder of the season.

I bet you're glad to be back.

I bought a pink whistle and don't have a game next week.:( I thought next week was pink whistle week.

Welcome back to the court. Just be careful!

Been there, done that. Get a good stretch and warm-up.

My surgery was 18 months ago and I don't even think about it anymore. Hope you're as fortunate.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Coaches vs. Cancer ...

Each member of my local board has been asked to donate 25% of a game fee.

First image I've posted in several months. Nobody better have a problem with it. My streak has ended. But it was worth it. Time to start a new image-less streak. Wish me luck.

An image like that is exempt. Your streak remains.

Don't you know the rules?

Hahahaha. Welcome to my world. After every game I have an ice pack on both of my knees, and one on my ankle. 3 knee surgries, and a severe ankle sprain a few years ago catches up to you I have found out this year while reffing.

Bad news is that I'm only 23. I can't imagine how bad it will be when I'm an old man :D

Well, since you asked, I'll tell you. After every game, I get packed in ice and put in a private jet to the Mayo clinic where they pump me full of painkillers and perform a frontal lobotomy. After a few hundred more lobotomies, I'll qualify to be a television commentator. :D

Hahaha. Any chance I could use that private jet to get to some congressional hearings in DC?

It felt good to be back on the court. I felt like a fish out of water at first but then got into the flow of the game. 20 something fouls in the first half that I believe I called 2. Not that I wasn't in the game just everything was happening in front of my partners. Settled down in the second half to where we did not even get to the bonus. Overall my knee was much better than I expected. Aleve prior to the game helped.
One downer to the game. Very late H1 just about tackles V1 and they go down in a heap. Intentional called. Both girls stayed down. V1 was Ok but H1 broke her wrist in the fall. I should say rebroke. We found out this was her second game back from a previous break to the same wrist.
The school did a great job with their fight cancer night. Gym decorated in pink. Coaches wore pink shirts. The players had pink laces, socks and headbands. We looked great with our pink whistles.
A nice game to return with.
Now I have a games 7 of the next 8 nights.

"I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy."
