Really dumb play

Boys Fresh/soph tourney last weekend. Visitors are trying to inbound the ball. Spot throw-in. I hand the ball and defender reaches way over the line. Tweet. I report, "White, delay, boundary violation, first warning." I go back to spot. Before I hand the ball to inbounder I extend my arm and say to defender, "Give him the line. Do not reach." Hand the ball to player, take one step away and see the defender's arm go across the line and slap the ball which the defender is holding above his head. I can't believe it. Really dumb play.

Why did you say first warning? :D There isn't going to be a second one. ;)

I had a similar sitch last week. Home time had delay of game warning earlier in the 2nd half for crossing the line while defending the throw in. With 10 seconds left in the game and home team up by three visitors are inbounding the ball on the sidelines right in front of the home bench. The home defender not only reaches through the plane but also steps across...an easy T to call. The visitors make both free throws and then score on the inbounds play and win the game by 1. Talk about a dumb play

I had a crazy one Sat - B13U. A inbounding ball. B matching up man to man. I hand the ball to A1 to inbound and I guess B1 then discovers - "Hey, that's the guy I'm supposed to be covering!" So, B1 runs across the floor and jumps at A1 (who is holding the ball out of bounds) flailing his arms and all trying to prevent the inbounds pass .....and jumps right across the line out of bounds! TWEET! Warning on B.

Never saw that before. Almost ran right into him. Sheesh.

So? Wasn't it the first warning? Did he say something false?

Kinda like introducing your (one and only) wife as your "first wife." People draw all kinds of wild and unwarranted inferences. :p

Because it is the first warning and that's what people say around here.

concerning reaching over the line. Players in their exuberance will have their hands move over the line a couple of inches, where do most of you draw the line? I've always called it when it is blatant, looks intentional or affects the player throwing in the ball.

A couple of inches I'm not seeing. When half his arm is through the line that's a different story.

Could be replaced with only warning;). Nevada has a point, no need to say first if there isn't a second.

Or better yet "First technical foul, blue coach"
