First coach ejection in years

I can't remember if I ever have tossed a coach at any level. 7th grade travel tourney over MLK weekend over 30 teams. It didn't help I had a long day of games.
Coach is getting chippy as his team is getting pummeled( what a surprise) and has a running commentary on almost every other play, the usual "oh my God", "unbelievable" and the volume is increasing. As I call a travel, he's on me about a phantom foul that his kid was hit in the head, I respond to his "why isn't that a foul" cliche and after he's warned, comes another cliche, " you guys are terrible" I whack him. He continues, and I ask him if he wants to stay or leave, if he wants to stay he has to stop......."I want to win" and continues to rant and another "you're horrible", all done in a highly disrespectful tone.......whack again. Coach makes dramatic exit with more loud cliches.

On a good note, whiny parents in the small gym were quiet for the rest of the game.

Now, looking back I wished my partner, who God bless him was useless the whole game, would have jumped in. He was nowhere to be found. I should have been less combative.

My only regret was I didn't get away from him. He deserved the toss, but it could possibly have been avoided with a cooler head on my part.

Thankfully, for my last game which was highly competitive, I had a partner who goes deep into the boys state tournament every year in Illinois and we had a great game.

There, I feel better, just had to emote.

These two quotes alone are enough to have done the trick. Sometimes there is no alternative.

fullor30, I have tossed my share of coaches and the H word is usually the cause.

I have regretted a toss or two, and like you said it is nice when you have a partner.

Nice to pre-game that one, Something like this "Partner If I give the first T, you HAVE to give the second or we are going to have BIG words in the post game chat"

Partners need to grow some " " and help there partners out, we are the 3rd team on the floor, lets act like one, a team.

While it's nice to have a partner step in, I would not go so far as to say he has to call the 2nd.

Of course, and I'm sure this guy was fairly new and didn't know any better.

He never did ask me why I tossed him. I was just happy to be done with game.

Yeah, we might have big words, but you might not like what I might have to say.

I actually wish a partner of mine would try and pregame like this.

Nothing wrong with the "H word" as such (I assume that you mean 'horrible'). For instance, these are all fine:

"My team's horrible!"
"That shot was horrible!"

and even

"That call was horrible!"

If you need a rule of thumb, the 3 P's is a better rule than one H.
