how many games do you do

I'm just a nosy person, my wife calls it an assh***

I will probably do 65 mid school and high school games this year. this is my second year. How many do most of you do. I might add i'm 60, so 65 seems alot.

Freddy Thu Jan 15, 2009 01:56pm

Games People Play

87, not counting summer and off-season scrimmages and camp

I'm 51

dbking Thu Jan 15, 2009 01:57pm

20 college games
40 hs varsity games
who knows how many others, probably 100+

Mark Padgett Thu Jan 15, 2009 02:02pm

I average between 180 and 200 games per year. That doesn't include croquet. Oh yeah, I'm also 60.

I know a guy who does at least 400 each year. Of course, they're all in his driveway. :D

Mark T. DeNucci, Sr. Thu Jan 15, 2009 02:07pm

From the early 90's (and Billy I mean 1990' not 1890's, :D) until the the early 00's (2000's that is not 1900's Billy, :D), between CYO, Jr. H.S., H.S. (FR, JV, VAR), college (jr., JV, and VAR), spring tournaments (AAU and YBOA), summer leagues, and AAU and YBOA (national tournaments) I would officiate anywhere from 400 to 450 games. I am now 57.

I have cut that down to about 150 games a year now, because Mark, Jr. started H.S. in 2004 and his now a FR in college and Andy is now a SO in H.S. I wanted to watch them play baseball in the summer and watch them swim during the fall and winter. I think that once Andy graduates from H.S. Also I have not taken games so that I could watch MTD, Jr. officiate and I have umpired more baseball and fastpitch in the summer the last few years and cut way back on my summer basketball schedule because of Mark and Andy's baseball games. But, I intend to pick up the pace of my schedule again after Andy graduates from H.S.

For a few years, just did 50 a year. Now I'm back up to 125, or more.

I've done a little over 90 since September ranging from 7th grade girls to varsity boys.

Scrapper1 Thu Jan 15, 2009 02:59pm

I've got 32 college games. I don't have my full high school schedule for Feb yet, but I usually end up with about 20-25 games. That's all for regular season, I'll get a couple more assignments for playoffs, but not a whole lot more.

Ref_in_Alberta Thu Jan 15, 2009 03:13pm

In years past I have call 300+ games in a season. But lately I've cut that down to between 85 - 115.

CMHCoachNRef Thu Jan 15, 2009 03:15pm

More than Freddy and less than Mark -- 4th grade through varsity HS. I still can't play in 50 and older basketball or soccer leagues. I, too, get limited since I have a high school son (who I officiate with when he has time) and a jr. high school son. We officiate soccer together (when they are not playing and I am not playing or coaching).

M&M Guy Thu Jan 15, 2009 03:33pm

Absolutely no more than one at a time.

I'm not good enough to do more than that.

JRutledge Thu Jan 15, 2009 03:56pm

As many as they give me. ;)

Peace

refguy Thu Jan 15, 2009 04:32pm

32 College Games and hoping for conference playoffs.

grunewar Thu Jan 15, 2009 06:11pm

I'm still fairly new (3rd yr of HS ball) so I'm still developing relationships and schedules. My schedule is much better this yr and I am pleased with how I am being developed and handled by my Association. They are not rushing me and giving me anything I can't handle, but are challenging me more and more. Last yr I did 130 HS and Rec games - and I loved almost everyone of em! ;)

Rich Thu Jan 15, 2009 07:20pm

About 40 games, all varsity. I don't typically work a single hoops game from March until November.

45-50 varsity games from Dec. 1 to March 1.

My age falls in that range as well.

As many or as few rec league games as I want.

Raymond Thu Jan 15, 2009 11:34pm

I usually average about 13-14 HS games a month in Dec/Jan/February. This month I only have 8 HS games. And so far my JuCo/College schedule includes 11 games, 1st was Nov 16th and last one scheduled for Feb 27th.

Don't work that many rec games in the winter, save that for off-season. I'm divorced with joint custody so I can't be a game ho.

A Pennsylvania Coach Fri Jan 16, 2009 07:25am

I did 133 last year (Nov 2007 through Oct 2008) and 66 so far this year. So tonight is #200 for me.

I could almost say I didn't work from March to November but I filled for two games last June at a local HS tourney. I won't do that tourney this year.

So total about 60 games a year.

Scooby Fri Jan 16, 2009 09:38am

I do 45-55 games. Most of them high school varsity. Maybe 10 of them youth. That is December to February.

Some I Would Prefer To Forget About ...

As of the end of the 2007-08 season, 705 high school assignments (freshman, junior varsity, varsity) in 27 years. About 26 high school assignments per year, mostly varsity the past twenty years. Double that to include Catholic middle school assignments. Hundreds of recreation games (total, not per year) in my early years, that I would prefer to forget about.

stmaryrams Sat Jan 17, 2009 12:55pm

I'm around 90 or so a year. I also don't work any basketball from March until scrimages in November. I do about 200 volleyball matches during the USAV and HS/MS/Rec seasons
