perception sometimes is not reality
I had a JH double header today and walked in the gym not knowing who my partner was. I see a guy who could be my father(and I'm on the back nine).
He has the byron collar on with old, crummy shoes, zipper down on shirt with a white T on and a whistle from my old Lionel train days. The guy called a perfect game........not much on mechanics but he was terrific and a great guy to boot, been at it for over 50 years. Does about 10 12 dates a year for his assignor friend. God bless him............. |
But he's never available for games on Christmas. :D

We've got a guy in our association that's 75 and still does a complete schedule - and keeps up both physically and mentally. He does a nice job and still gets tournament games. I hope when I'm 75 I can walk (even with a walker) and eat without drooling. :)

There was a guy in Nevadaref's area when I was officiating there that was pretty darn old that did a great job. You know the skin and bones character, I wish I could remember his name, he was spoken of in Ref Mag several years ago.
