1,000 point witness

Had a game today between my old HS & the one where I live and both stepsons attended. A girl for the visitors scored her 1,000th point today & was the first girl in school history to do so. Did it on the 1st of 2 FTs. Her Dad was on the varsity when I played JV back in the day and was in attendance. Home team presented her with flowers and their game ball.

With so many threads focused on trouble situations, thought I would share something good.

Year Gap,

I witness this great feat a few year ago. Home managment informed us. That a kid from the visiting team may score his 1000th points during the game and asked if we mind when it happen we suspend play temporary and allow the kid to be acknowledge for the feat.

We agreed as a crew and after the game everyone involved was appreciative of our courtesy.

I wish there had been a ceremony when I ejected my 1000th coach. All I got was congratulations from Dr. Naismith. :(

We had a local game this weekend where the HT had a girl reach the 1000 mark early in the 2nd qtr. They stopped the game and gave her the game ball. Then, the VT had a girl reach the 1000 mark late in the same quarter. They stopped the game and issued her the game ball. Cost the Home school about $100. :D

Did the flowers match the primary color of her jersey?.............I'm just sayin.

I am sure you didn't have to come back after a red shirt to reach it!

I have some faith restored in chivalry when a team awards an opponent a $50 game ball. Very nice to see.

If the flowers were used to tie her hair, then the color doesn't matter.

If the flowers went all the way around her head, then yes, the flowers need to be the same color as the jersey, or black, white, or beige. Just make sure the flowers aren't more than 2" wide.

And I wouldn't allow roses for safety reasons...just sayin'.

I agree, the thorns are some sort of logo, they resemble the Nike swoosh.

Point taken.

That's pretty sharp to notice that.

Wonderful run.

But would have been that much more subtle if you had left it at "Point taken."

Is that why it's not just "M Guy"?! ;)

That's correct.

That's correct.

They were yellow roses. Primary uniform color was gold. She gave them to her Mom to hold. Then she came back and sank her 2nd FT.
