Little Perspective
Hey there fellow officials,
Today (well Friday specifically), was a tough day for our association. We had a young, first year official who died recently in a car accident. He and a friend of his were traveling back from a canceled game. Tonight, we all wore a ribbon on our shirt and read a speech before each varsity game in remembrance. An article from the local paper: Two youths killed in car wreck shared love of basketball Really puts officiating and life in perspective. |
With Sympathy ...
AllPurposeGamer: Check out the comments after the article from the local paper. I would, respectfully, like to change one word. "Be of good courage, the God of the universe is always good. He must have had a need for good basketball officials in Heaven".
"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away". (Rev 21:4) |
WOW! I grew up in that area too. I am terribly sorry for their families and your Chapter. Prayers will be said for all.
I has been a sad year in officiating circles. Just in the Houston area we have lost 3 veteran officials (20+ years officiating) in the past 5 months. I know the Dallas chapter recently had an official pass away too. It is a reminder that it can all pass too quickly and we should appreciate our blessings daily . . . |
