Totally OT - Stupid Pet Names

Every now and then, the name Skippy Weaselpants makes an appearance on this site (thanks to you know who). So, when I found this article on MSN, I cracked up and had to post it. Hope you enjoy it too. Hey, this is serious stuff (OK, maybe not so much).

Move over, Fluffy and Fido. There's a new batch of pet names in town:

Veterinary Pet Insurance (VPI), the nation's largest and oldest provider of pet health insurance, scoured its database of more than 466,000 insured pets to find the most popular dog and cat names of 2008. (Animals not insured by VPI were not included in the survey.)

But for those who like to think outside the (litter) box, VPI also came up with a list of unusual pet names. The company's employees selected 50 unusual dog names and 50 unusual cat names, and then voted for the top 10 in each category. See which names were up to snuff.

Most unusual dog names:
1. Rush Limbark
2. Sirius Lee Handsome
3. Rafikikadiki
4. Low Jack
5. Meatwad
6. Peanut Wigglebutt
7. Scuddles Unterfuss
8. Sophie Touch & Pee
9. Admiral Toot
10. Spatula

Most unusual cat names:
1. Edward Scissorpaws
2. Sir Lix-a-lot
3. Optimus Prrrime
4. Buddah Pest
5. Snoop Kitty Kitty
6. Miss Fuzzbutt
7. 80 Bucks
8. Sparklemonkey
9. Rosie Posie Prozac
10. Toot Uncommon

Hey Padgett,
Do you think you could send grunewar a small unmarked package with a few of your meds. I think he's been off his a little too long!

My mother always wanted to name a dog "Dammit." You know, "Sit, Dammit! Dammit, come here!"

I've had lots of dogs in my life, all with "normal" names. Currently, I have a llasa apso named Sherlock. Years ago, we had a dalmatian. Our son, who was just a little kid at the time, wanted to name him. He named him "Firedog", which is a good name for a dalmatian. However, he just called the dog "Fire". The neighbors would get really nervous whenever he yelled for the dog. :D

Numbers

my wife and I name our pets numbers. Don't know if it's original or cute but it's what we do.

Current pack includes

1 is a Big rott-pretty but dumb.
5 is a Chow mix-the "Sheriff"
7 is a terrier mix
9 is our newest-a Malamutt we got from one state over.

2 the cat got snacked on by our neighbors dog and bit the dust. 3 the beagle got some funky bad red cell disease and after three complete blood transfusions and human steroids had to be put down.

If they have an 00 before their number, do they have a license to kill?

On occasion,at night, a silly neighborhood cat will wander into their run. I let them out at night and can't see to the back of the dog run/kennel, the killing noises are horrific but at least it doesn't last long.:( . The wife gets very upset when that happens. Carcass clean up is always mine.

By themselves they'll lick you to death but when they pack up it can get a little hairy. Hence I have to take them to the dog park solo or in carefully selected pairings.

Just don't name one "0" and one "00." That's illegal.

Cujo chronicles a tale of man's best friend turned satanic killer.

Are you 100% sure that it was the neighbor's dog that snacked on 2?

Between your dogs, and your neighbor's dog, I'm sure that your neighborhood is a low priority area for burglars.

Yea it was the neighbors, I got there at the end of the party.

We've had 1 burglary in 9 years. they got caught as they were pulling out. I live in a older, mixed neighborhood. Retirees abound, so if you don't belong on the street someone is always watching.

Once in awhile my wife will try and dress them up in those cute little dog outfits. They will literally tear them off each other. We go through this Chinese fire drill about once a year.
