OOO Partner?

After a timeout, the team who is to throw in the ball is exiting their huddle and hustling to the spot for the throw-in. We have not had any trouble throughout the game with them taking too long. For some reason, my partner puts the ball on the floor and begins the five count. After a later timeout, the same team is ready to throw in the ball and I am ready to hand it to them when I see my partner with his back to the court talking to somebody in the front row. I blow my whistle and administer the throw-in. My partner turns around re-joins the game. I didn't address this after the game because I had asked a question at half time and he seemed to not want to discuss things with me. I just hope I don't work with him again.

Forgive me, but I am not sure what the problem was. Are you upset that he would not talk to you or that he might have followed a rule way too technically?

Peace

I can live with the technicality, but if you're going to pull that you should be paying attention instead of talking to the crowd.

Agreed. You shouldn't be both going by the letter of the law, and then in a position when you have to play a second of catch-up while your P does his job. It's contradictory.

I agree you should not talk to the crowd, but there are all kinds of reason he could have been talking to the crowd. I did not read anything that was over the top or out of line. I have talked to the crowd before because I might inadvertently run into them and we have a laugh about it. I am not saying that is the case here, but I do not know if I would be upset over this with the topic start.

Peace
