How did the myth get started? Related thread peaked my curiousity. Anyone have any idea how the "first to touch" or "haven't established themselved on the court" myths got started? |

Possibly from somebody watching too many NCAA Football or NFL games I would guess. In those rule sets, if a player steps out of bounds, they cannot be the first to touch a forward pass. What relevance does it have to basketball? Not much but who knows with some fans/coaches. |

Maybe because a dribbler in control cannot be the first to touch, possibly some officials keep the myth alive by applying the rule incorrectly. |

And, in NCAA, if a plyaer cuts around a screen OOB, they cannot be the first to recieve a pass. |
