I think we've all had just about our fill of partners
leaving assignments (BTW Rut, go to Google & search on
Godwin's Law. You lose.) Tonight on the YES channel
they are replaying the NY vs Boston 1978 playoff game.
Boy oh boy, it's a good one, I hope it ends the way it did
the first time!

Oh my goodness, Yaz just yanked one into the right field
seats, 1-0 Boston!

JRutledge Thu May 30, 2002 08:34pm

Who cares, the Yankees suck.

I must be at SAFECO, you cannot say that here. :)

You mean you are not dedicated to the local Police Academy League tonite, you must give back to the game. You cannot afford to be watching TV, there are games to do. ;)

Kinda hard to justify saying that the team with the most
wins in MLB sucks (go ahead, look it up, I'll wait).
Of course, you never let the truth get in the way of your
opinions. (insert smiley face here)

All right, all right. I've heard enough. . .

Yeah, and I've heard enough about the FREAKIN' Yankees!!!!! AAAAAUUUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHH!!! Even with the best record in baseball and an unbelievable resurgence from last September's collapse, the Red Sox still only have a 2 game lead in the division. They're only great b/c of one stupid transaction 80 years ago, but they just can't stop rubbing Boston's collective nose in it. And Bucky Dent can just kiss my. . .

Apparently, Dan is trying to find the upper limit on the number of rounds he must buy on the 16th to convince me that he is actually a good guy. ;)

As for Godwin's Law, I'd never heard of it, but it seems to be exactly on the mark.

Chuck

rockyroad Thu May 30, 2002 09:59pm

Godwin's Law...that's pretty good. I had never heard of it either...sure fits though...and as far as SAFECO, they changed their stance on the "Yankees Suck" shirts and they are now allowed...not sure if that's because they really believe that or if the fans put up too much of a fuss...any way - they did the "right thing" (not my words by the way, they never were...I borrowed them from Rut's response to Chuck) :)

mick Thu May 30, 2002 10:04pm

The Tigers are fun.

I once saw Yastrzemski (sp?) jack one to left in Briggs (later Tiger) Stadium. Triple crown that year, I believe.
65? 66? 67?
But, then, Mickey Mantle once said, "Hi!" to me.
Oh, what to do....

Mark Dexter Thu May 30, 2002 10:07pm

I don't see why you can't wear a shirt saying "Yankees Suck!"

I mean, it's a statement of fact . . .

Ozzie Smith said hit to me once. He was the greatest fielder I have ever seen.

That would be after the game, right? ;)

BTW, Bucky came through in the 7th and Yaz popped out
in the 9th, just like the first time around. All is
well in the universe.

Shouldn't you be doing some game somewhere? You know that we have to look out for the game at all cost. I am sure an AAU Tournament needs your services at once. No time for baseball, you have to get back the game that needs officials at all costs. No time for opinions on baseball, got....to do.....game.....at once. :D Baseball should be the last thing we worry about, we have to show that we have no life and worry about the actions of all officials at all times. Hurry, you might have time to get to a game at once.

Actually,it's a 1 game lead,Chuck. In the interest of fairness,I must also point out, that out of the Sox's 35 wins to-date,approximately 28 have been against Tampa Bay and Toronto!:D

Let's check the standings after this weekend's series -- at Yankee Stadium where, according to ESPN, the Bosox have lost 7 straight. Hoping to be in 1st. place (where the Yankees belong) come Monday.

Au contraire, Mr. Smartypants. In the interest of accuracy, let me point out that of Boston's 35 wins, only 11 have come against Tampa Bay and Toronto. Admittedly, there are also 6 wins against the Orioles and 4 against KC; but they've also taken 5 of 8 from the Yankees (who, by the way, SUCK), and held their own against Seattle, winning 3 of 6.

So there! ththththtpbpbbpbphthbpbph!! :p

Chuck

P.S. - The Yankees, on the other hand, have 14 wins (out of their 36) against TB and Tor.

Mickey Lolich, Denny McClain, Gates Brown, Norm Cash,
Willie Horton, Mickey Stanley, Bill Freehan (didn't Pete

LOL, wrong "JR", Jeff. The "smartypants" was directed at Jurassic Ref. I ususally refer to you as Rut, since you don't seem to mind. (If you do mind, I'll switch to "Jeff", but I only knew your last name until I came to this board).

Hey - 1918. Yes, that's usually used as a taunt against the Sox, but they have won one! Yankees didn't even go to the World Series until 1921 and didn't win until '23.

To suggest that Chuck and I would become Yankees fans? Harumph! I'd sooner switch party affiliation, move to Australia, and start working FIBA basketball!

First of all, the nickname for someone from CT is, well, I'm not going to say :D (Grrrrrrr)

I have the opposite mindset - how can someone live in Connecticut and actually LIKE the Yankees? Just FYI, I'm from Northeast CT (a.k.a. REAL Connecticut) - as far away from NYC as possible.

No....we could all celebrate France losing to freakin' Senegal in that sport where they're not allowed to use their hands. You know, the one where they play for 90 minutes and the final score is 1-0. Gee - that's exciting.

The only good part is that the entire nation of France is depressed. HAHAHA! Serves them right for rejecting Euro-Disneyland.

It not how many times you have been, its how many times you have won. Because this means you are better than the other team. I guess this means the Yankees are 25 times as good as the Bosox.
